Looking for any advice you may have available on these places! I will be traveling there in April with a friend. We are backpackers, and hostel dwellers, preferring to save our money for adventure.... volcano boarding, canyoning, ziplining, crater hiking, and diving with sharks... yup, you read right!

I have taken the Eberle Wine group twice to Costa Rica on a Windstar Cruise. The first time a good portion of our group stayed additional days at Tabacon Lodge at the Arneal Volcano. It was a great expereince with many Rainforest hikes, we saw our first Tucan there. Warning, don't put your head under the hot mineral waters. My husband came home with a parasite in his ear.

Manuel Antonio National Park was another highlight with many species of monkeys. Beautiful beaches and some attractive looking hotels looked close by. For viewing sea turtles we suggest Tortuguero National Park.

When you arrive to San Jose do not pass an opportunity to dine at LaLuz at the Alta Hotel. The view is fantastic, the food wonderful. We didn't stay at the Alta Hotel, but would consider it next time. Also find the market in San Jose with a lot of tourist items well priced. Any local could get you there.

We seemed to drink a lot of Chilean wine reasonbly priced while while we were there. Concha Y Toro seemed to be a favorite amongst the group.

Bring a light raincoat and back pack.

Have a Great Time!

Kris, Thank you for the heads up! I hope to not be bringing home any souvenirs of the parasite nature! We have plans to hit Tortuguero as well, I think it should be amazing.

I am so looking forward to the Chilean wines. If you have any photos, I would appreciate if you could upload them here on WineSpace, I'd love to look at them.

Thanks for all the advice!
